The near extinction of some positive
societal values has caught the attention of Youth leaders of the Cameroon
Baptist Convention, CBC, who met recently for a five-day Leadership Conference
in Ndop, Ngoketunjia Sub Division of the North West Region to equip themselves
spiritually and other wise.
Hans Monono Manga: CBC Nat. Youth Secretary |
The Conference that took place at the
Baptist High School Ndop Chapel from 22 to 26 June , 2015, brought
together about 500 Youth leaders from the various local congregations of the
CBC through out the national territory.
Organised under the theme ‘Equipping
Youth Leaders to Overflow’ as drawn from the scriptural book of 2 Tim. 2:2, the
event saw several presentations by some prominent facilitators who inspired the
youth in many aspects.
The Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Nditemen
from the Etug-ebe Baptist Church in Yaounde, stressed on the need to have
leaders with spiritual and moral values because leadership, he went on, is
weakened by the weaknesses of the leader and that effective leaders are those
who study God’s word fervently.
On his part, Dr. Stanley A. Mungwe from
Buea and Dr. Nick Ngwanyam from Bamenda, respectively, spoke on
Entrepreneurship and Career orientation, both emphasising that if we must
emerge as a nation we must always learn how to solve problems and not always
complain. They as well called on the participants to follow the right
principles in order to attain the right results in everything they
do since life is based on principles. The speakers posited that we cannot
keep studying the wrong things like History and then expect to do things right.
Other resource persons at the Conference
were Hilda Bih Muluh from CRTV Bamenda who spoke on ‘Making Your Life Count’,
stressing that young people need to have strong positive convictions to be able
to overcome difficulties.
Rev. Shadrack Vegah from Salvation
Baptist Church Bamenda, on his part, called on the leaders to be vigilant
against manipulation of all sorts, wrong prophesies and miracles.
Closing the Conference, the organisers,
viz; Rene Ali Kwala, National President and Hans Monono Manga, National
Secretary of CBC Youth and Student Ministry of Cameroon, stressed the need for
participants to share what they learnt with their peers back home. To them, the
rich presentations at the confab would go a long way in making a difference in
their Christian lives.
The event rounded off on a very positive
note with a resolution by the National Executive of the CBC Youth to take the
National Youth Camp to Baptist High School Buea in June 2016; an event that
will bring together at least 3.000 young people from around the national
territory.
